On 26th - 29th August 2019, The All Africa Conference of Churches, through Rev. Charles Berahino, Executive Secretary, Peace & Diakonia, AACC and Bishop Yona Katoneene, Special AACC Envoy to South Sudan, attended the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) 2019 General Assembly.
The General Assembly whose theme was drawn from Mathew 6: 4-18: "that all may be one", brought together delegates drawn from the seven-member churches, partners and associates of South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) such as All Africa Conference of Churches.
During the General Assembly, SSCC revised its constitution and by-laws. Rev. Berahino hopes that the new leadership and revised constitution of SSCC will strengthen the position and action of the church towards Peacebuilding and Reconciliation even as they resolve to work in a new way, based on love, unity and forgiveness.
He also used this opportunity to affirm the newly elected leaders; Chairman, Bishop Arkanjelo Wani Lemi, vice-chair moderator James Par Tap, and General Secretary Fr James Oyet Latansio of AACC’s continued partnership while providing clarity on governance and concerns around consensus and election.
