AACC-CETA Welcomes First Cohort to the Master of Theology in Ecumenical Leadership Programme

In partnership with St. Paul's University - Kenya, the All Africa Conference of Churches has started a Master of Theology in Ecumenical Leadership degree programme. Ten students from Benin, Kenya, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania have been awarded full scholarships facilitating their studies. The programme is hosted at Mindoro Ecumenical Foundation at Kitwe - Zambia, where the students will experience ecumenical encounter and exposure, sharing their various denominational traditions namely, Anglican, Baptist, evangelical Lutheran, orthodox, Methodist, Reformed and Moravian spiritualities as they get equipped with knowledge and skills in transformative and ethical leadership.

"We are excited to receive you here at MEF, and your presence among us marks a new chapter in our history, a history that promises to be filled with learning, growth, ecumenical encounter and transformation." Noted Rev. Prof. Joyce Mbowe - Executive Director MEF.  "By bringing this program to MEF, AACC is reviving, the ecumenical spirit of the continent and Pan-Africanism given that various political and church leaders were trained at Mindolo." She added.

"I am excited to be here, looking forward to meeting my fellow students and moreover being nurtured to become an effective leader." Expressed Ms. Linda Kendi from Methodist Church in Kenya.

"I enthusiastically received the admission to the program, with expectations to learn more about ecumenical leadership and contribute to building a united, just, and peaceful continent". Noted Rev. Skonje from Moravian Church in South Africa.

Fr. Dr. John Njoroge - Executive Secretary for Theology and Interfaith Relationship, welcomed the students on behalf of the General Secretary Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki. He noted that "AACC aspires to equip students with knowledge and skills in Ecumenical Leadership at master's level every year. This aims at nurturing leaders who will lead churches, ecumenical organizations both continentally and globally".
