AACC General Committee Receives General Secretary's Report with Great Appreciation
“The main task of the General Secretary's office is to ensure that governance fulfils its duties. Other tasks include Membership Development, developing Partnerships and Networks, among others.” Noted the AACC General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki as he presented his report to the General Committee. This was during the second business session of the General Committee meeting on 9th May 2024.
The General Secretary reported that the AACC has gained increased recognition both within the continent and beyond. He, however, noted that despite this achievement, there remain numerous churches that have not yet joined the fellowship.
“The organization has actively sought to address this by continuing to invite non-members to join. We have received 11 applications from various countries, including Kenya, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. These applications signify a growing interest in becoming part of the AACC’s network.”
According to the report, the first four Months of the year 2024 saw the office of the General Secretary intensify activities in membership development and partnerships where he visited Amity Foundation in China. The office of the fundraising officer intensified activities in Programmes development, fundraising and reporting in line with the AACC 2024 – 2028 Strategy.
“Sourcing for new grants for 2024 started and will continue throughout the year as well as maintaining continuous communication and relations with the already existing partners.”
The report also highlighted the work done by the Finance and Administration department, African Union office and Advocacy Office, Regional Office in Lome - Togo, and Programmes Department since the 12th General Assembly.
The General committee received the report with great gratitude and members expressed their commitment to continue accompanying the secretariat in fulfilling its mandate.
“I really appreciate the wonderful work the secretariat is doing. Having listened to the General Secretary’s report, I am assured that the sustainability of the AACC is assured.” Noted Ms. Harriette Peunwonokeh Yenwo.
