AACC General Secretary's Christmas Message
The year 2023 has been filled with many blessings, joyful moments, and great achievements. During this year, AACC saw its membership grow and witnessed the increasing commitment of its members demonstrated by their contributions and active involvement in the fellowship’s work. With great success, we completed several projects and with inspiring ardency, began many new ones. We established new partnerships with various organizations but also strengthened our working relationships with a number of our long-time partners. We successfully celebrated AACC’s 60th anniversary and held the 12th General Assembly in Abuja, Nigeria. The outcomes of this General Assembly, especially, the election of AACC’s first female president and the strong endorsement of AACC’s Pan-African Campaign on Africa: My Home. My Future., made it stand out in the entire history of the AACC. We are indeed grateful to God for such a fruitful year!
Despite the many achievements, we recognize that there have been several moments of pain, loss, and despair as we confronted the various challenges that came our way. We lost many loved ones, witnessed the outbreak of wars and political instabilities in African countries like Sudan, and other parts of the world, observed the abuse of constitutional and electoral processes in many African states where elections took place, and experienced the worsening impacts of the climate change crisis. Amidst all this, however, we have not been consumed, and it is not by our power or might but because of the Lord’s great love and compassion for us (Lamentations 3:22).
As we begin 2024, let us carry with us the lessons learned throughout 2023, and allow ourselves to be charged by the compelling love of Christ to advance our agency in Christ’s Holistic mission of proclaiming good news to the poor and freedom for the prisoners, recovering of sight for the blind, setting the oppressed free, and proclaiming the year of the Lord’s favor (Luke 4:18-19 paraphrased).
I wish you a joy-filled Christmas and a happy New Year 2024.
Rev Dr Fidon Mwombeki
General Secretary
