AACC Participates in the 12th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa
Through the Africa Faith Actors Network for Climate Justice (AFAN-CJ), the AACC participated in the 12th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-XII) in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from 30 August to 2 September 2024. The sessions were expected to contribute to the 10th Africa Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) that would run from 3 to 8 September 2024.
The CCDA-XII was convened by ClimDev-Africa (AfDB, UNECA, AUC) in partnership with other organizations and the Government of Cote d’Ivoire. The outcome of the CCDA would be submitted to the Special Session of AMCEN, convened on the theme: “Financing Climate Adaptation and Resilience”. The AMCEN theme resonated well with AFAN-CJ’s call for increased support for climate adaptation programs in Africa.
According to Dr. Tinashe Gumbo, AACC Programme Executive for Economic and Ecological Justice, CCDA provided a strategic platform for the faith leaders to share with other actors addressing the climate change crisis the recommendations that came from the AFAN-CJ continental round table meeting held in Nairobi from 27 to 29 August 2024.
