First Cohort of AACC Master Of Theology in Ecumenical Leadership Graduate as Ethical Leaders

The 34th graduation ceremony of St. Paul's University held on 7th November 2025 spotlighted the success of the first cohort of the Master of Theology in Ecumenical Leadership (MTEL) program. MTEL is a one-year master's degree offered at the Mindolo Ecumenical Institute by St Paul’s University in Kenya in partnership with the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC). The first cohort of this program included; Rev. Gatebuka David, Rev. Ibyimana Athanase, Rev. Akintaju Oladapo, Rev. Jackson Simon, Rev. Munayani Zulu, Rev. Ntandazo Skonje, Mr. Geoffrey Mugadizi, Rev. Jubilate Deo AVALLA and Pastor Victoire Wamuyu.

During the graduation, Pastor Victoire Wamunyu from DRC shared that the MTEL was a "transformative experience" that shaped his personality and deepened his understanding of ethical and servant leadership.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony St Paul's University Vice Chancellor, Prof. James Kombo, charged the graduands to go forth and serve God and humanity as ambassadors of faith, lifelong learning and innovation. In his remarks, the University Council Chair, The Most Rev. Ole Sapit, affirmed that faith is a "moral compass" essential for leadership and public service. He stressed that leaders must choose truth and justice in all their endeavors.

The University Chancellor, Prof. Margret Kobia, reminded the graduates that "Education without character is not very useful."

During the MTEL graduates' thanksgiving ceremony held at the AACC General Secretariat, in Nairobi, Kenya, Rev Fr. Dr. Njoroge warmly described the graduates as "ecumenical firstborns" acknowledging their pioneering status as the first cohort of the master's degree.

Speaking on behalf of the AACC General Secretary, AACC Director for Finance, Ms. Phyllis Brewah encouraged the newly minted Masters graduates to utilize the knowledge, experiences, and skills obtained during their stay at the Mindolo Ecumenical Institute and throughout their studies to set a good example of ethical and transformative leadership.
