General Committee Appreciates the member Churches in Nigeria for their tremendous contributions to the Success of the 12th General Assembly

During the first business session of the General committee meeting on 9th May 2024, the Committee received an evaluation report about the 12th General Assembly that was held in Abuja, Nigeria between 18th and 22nd November 2023, at the National Christian Center in Abuja.

“The AACC 12th General Assembly was a great success.” Noted Ms. Evelyne Okunda, the Executive Secretary in the Office of the General secretary as she presented the report.

The highlights of the 12th General Assembly included the Posthumous Award to Elder Dr. Akanu Ibiam (1st AACC Chairman) presented to Dr. Ibiam’s Granddaughter, Princess Alu Akanu Ibiam, the 60th Anniversary Celebrations, the Election of the 1st AACC female president, Election and induction of new AACC governance members, among others.

“AACC members in Nigeria hosted the 12th General Assembly and took responsibility for all local logistics including paying for accommodation, meals, local transport, entertainment, among other costs that they met. This was a very huge financial contribution and AACC will forever be grateful.”  Noted Ms. Phyllis Brewah, the Director of Finance and Administration as she presented the 12th General Assembly financial analysis.  She also appreciated all member churches for meeting the flight costs of their delegates, and the AACC partners who supported the General Assembly through the various contributions they made.

In his remarks, Rev Dr Israel Akanji, president of the Nigeria Baptist convention and Chairperson of the General Assembly Local Organizing Committee appreciated the commitment of the Nigerian Churches, Christian Council of Nigeria and Christian Association of Nigeria for their commitment towards making the Assembly a success.

“This was the Lords doing, and our hearts shall always delight in it. We deeply appreciate the member churches in Nigeria for their great generosity without which the 12th General Assembly would not have been as successful as it was.” Noted the AACC President, Rt. Rev. Lydia Neshangwe.
