Ms. Faustina Nillan from Tanzania Appointed as AACC’s Executive Secretary for Gender and Women
During the General Committee Meeting on 9th May 2024, the AACC General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki revealed that AACC’s Current Director for Gender and women Rev. Dr. Lydia Mwaniki will be retiring from the organization after her successful nine-year tenure.
Rev. Dr. Lydia Mwaniki will be succeeded by Ms. Faustina Nillan from Tanzania. Nillan was appointed by the Finance and Personnel Committee on 7th May 2024 to serve as AACC’s Executive Secretary for Gender and Women from August 2024.
Currently working as the National Director for Women and Children in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) Headquarters, Nillan is a gender specialist with a career span of 12 years. She works collaboratively with several institutions including but not limited to the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Women and Gender Advocacy, Task Force 5 on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), and Act Forum Waking the Giant in Tanzania. She is also a member of the Global Steering Committee of Side-by-Side Faith Movement for Gender Justice, the National coordinator of Side-by-Side Tanzania Chapter, and the advisor of Christian Council of Tanzania Women, Arusha Region.
