National Youth Leaders Training of Trainers on Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Sustainable Families
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), a dynamic ecumenical body representing over 200 million Christians across Africa, has consistently promoted human dignity, rights, health, and healing since 1963. Committed to its mission, the AACC is tackling the crucial issue of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) among African youth.
Despite the protections offered by the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and the African Youth Charter, African youth still face significant challenges, such as harmful sexual practices, gender-based violence, and limited access to SRHR services. Understanding youth leaders' pivotal role in transforming these realities, the AACC is organizing an impactful training trainers’ workshop in Sierra Leone from October 21st to 23rd, 2024.
The primary goal of this training is to empower youth leaders in Sierra Leone with the knowledge and skills necessary to champion sexual and reproductive health and rights through faith-based approaches that respect human dignity. Specifically, this training aims to:
• Equip youth leaders with the skills to educate faith communities about SRHR.
• Provide the tools for effective faith-based advocacy to promote sustainable families.
• Engage youth leaders in developing contextual Bible studies on SRHR and sustainable families.
By equipping these leaders, the AACC aims to tackle critical SRHR challenges and contribute to achieving the Agenda 2063 aspirations and the Sustainable Development Goals in Sierra Leone.
