AACC hosted WCC’s Think-Tank on Sustainable responses to HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria
On 28th and 29th May 2025, the All Africa conference of Churches (AACC) hosted the World Council of Churches (WCC) Think-Tank on Sustainable responses to HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria. This event provided a safe platform for religious leaders and communities to discuss, strategize and initiate a campaign in support of the Eighth Replenishment of the Global Fund to reinforce the sustainability of the health response. Participants, majority of whom are young people, included religious leaders and diverse community leaders from Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Togo, Nigeria, Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Bolivia, Cote d’Ivorie, DRC and Tanzania.
In her opening remarks on behalf of the AACC General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki, Ms. Ann Kioi, AACC Executive Secretary for Programmes Development and Fundraising affirmed AACC’s commitment to health and healing, describing the think tank as a timely step towards sustaining ecumenical and global achievements in ensuring quality life for all by 2030 as per the 17 UN SDGS.
As the workshop ended, participants published a statement placing an urgent call all governments, and the private sector to commit to and fully fund the Eighth Replenishment of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, urging continued efforts to close equity gaps, to give hope, and to defend the sanctity of life.
