AACC statement on the commemoration of the International Day against Human Trafficking

To mark the International Day against Human Trafficking on Tuesday 30 July 2024, the All Africa Conference of Churches joins the international community in making a firm commitment to combat the scourge of human trafficking, which entangles and affects millions of people throughout the world. The AACC stands in solidarity with the victims and survivors of human trafficking.

Under the theme "Leave no child behind in the fight against human trafficking", this day calls for collective and coordinated action to protect the most vulnerable in our societies.
As a faith-based organization, the All Africa Conference of Churches is working closely with local authorities, international organizations and civil society to combat human trafficking. On this day, we thank each actor for the efforts they have made in their respective spheres.

As a community of faith, the All Africa Conference of Churches believes in the sacred value of every human life and is committed to resolutely combating all forms of exploitation and violence. We must all be vigilant and determined to put an end to this inhuman trade that destroys lives and breaks families.

As a voice of faith and compassion, the All Africa Conference of Churches calls for concerted and coordinated action on behalf of governments, international organizations, civil society and all relevant actors to eradicate human trafficking in all its forms by putting in place robust laws, strengthening victim protection mechanisms as well as measures for severe punishment of perpetrators of this abominable crime.

On this International Day Against Human Trafficking, let us remember that every individual has the fundamental right to be treated with dignity and respect. The All Africa Conference of Churches reiterates its commitment to work with all stakeholders to build a future where justice, compassion and human dignity for all prevail.

Together today, united in solidarity and brotherhood, we can put an end to this scourge and build a more just and humane world for all. Let us leave no child behind in this crucial fight for the dignity and freedom of every individual.

May God guide us in our common mission to put an end to human trafficking and to build a world of greater justice and solidarity for all.
