Regional Webinar on Elections and Governance: Understanding the ACDEG Framework

Churches and Faith-based organizations (FBOs) possess unique resources and community standing that can significantly contribute to peaceful and credible elections. Building constructive relationships with Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) is crucial for churches and FBOs to effectively leverage their influence and promote democratic processes.

In collaboration with the African Union Commission African Governance Architecture – African Peace and Security Architecture (AGA-APSA) secretariat, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), the AACC has organized a series of webinars aiming to:

  • Analyze the role of FBOs in peacebuilding and democratic processes.

  • Examine the ACDEG framework and its application to FBO activities.

  • Explore the relationship between national electoral laws and FBO engagement.

  • Identify best practices and challenges faced by FBOs in their peacebuilding and democracy work.

  • Develop recommendations for strengthening the role of the African Union, Multilateral Bodies, CSOs and FBOs in promoting peaceful and credible elections.

The first webinar series is scheduled for 31st July 2025 at 14:30 EAT. It will focus on the Role of Churches & Faith-Based Organizations in Peacebuilding and Democracy: Introduction to the ACDEG and how it relates to Member State/National Electoral Laws.
