ICGLR Executive Secretary, H.E. Ambassador Joao Samuel Caholo visits the AACC Secretariat in Nairobi.

On 3rd August 2024, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Executive Secretary, H.E. Ambassador Joao Samuel Caholo paid a courtesy call to the AACC General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki and the staff at the AACC offices in Kenya. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. James. M. Kiiru, Director, EAC & ICGLR Division, Ms. Carine Gahimbare, Personal assistant to the Executive Secretary, Ms. Mildred A. Kinyaga, the Communication and Conferences officer, Mr. Moses Mwenda, Second Secretary Kenya Embassy Bujumbura -Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora affairs, and Ms. Halima Rashid, the third Secretary – Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

AACC and ICGLR signed a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify their partnership in Peacebuilding and Promoting Reconciliation, Democracy, Economic Stewardship, and Gender Equality in Africa on the 14th of March 2024. This has fostered mutual accompaniment between the two organizations in supporting the implementation of the Aspirations of the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals in the different African countries.

During Ambassador Joao’s courtesy visit, the two organizations evaluated their progress in implementing the MoU and reaffirmed commitment to their mission.
