Standing in Solidarity with the people of Morocco
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble”, Standing in Solidarity with the people of Morocco
We were greatly saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake that hit the Marrakech region in Morocco on Friday 9th September 2023. We mourn the lives of people claimed by this disaster, pained by the massive loss of sources of livelihood, and stand with everyone who has been affected by the earthquake. We commend nations and institutions that have demonstrated friendship with the traumatized people of Morocco, especially the rescue and medical teams responding to the crisis, all volunteers, and everyone providing relief aid.
In solidarity with our member churches in Morocco, we reaffirm the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 43:1-3, and pray that God continues to grant sisters and brothers in Morocco the grace they need to ensure that their witness of the love of Christ facilitates healing and restoration among injured individuals, within the affected families, over Morocco as a nation and through Africa: Our Home and Future.
We pray for the Government of Morocco led by King Mohammed VI, that God helps them to triumphantly lead the country out of this moment of tribulation.
Psalm 43:1-3 (NIV): God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
