High-Level Consultation on Migration, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery in Africa.
The AACC Regional Office Lomé and the AACC AU Liaison Office to the African Union are set to host a High-level Consultation on Migration, Human Trafficking, and Modern Slavery in Africa. Scheduled to take place at the Desmond Tutu Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 7th to 11th, 2024, this event will gather 50 key participants, including faith actors, policymakers, representatives from the AU, civil society, and other stakeholders. This consultation aims to foster conversation and offer solutions to the phenomenon to safeguard human dignity.
The primary goal of the consultation is to create a solid framework to tackle migration, human trafficking, and modern slavery in Africa. By uniting diverse voices and encouraging collaboration, the consultation also aims to empower stakeholders to take decisive action in safeguarding the rights and dignity of all individuals affected by migration.
Let’s note that the AACC organized four regional consultations across West, Central, East, and Southern Africa to understand the patterns of migration, human trafficking, and modern slavery in those regions and gave us a global view of the phenomenon on the continent.
Ultimately, this initiative aspires to contribute to a safer and fairer future for migrants across the continent.
