AACC 9th Theological Institute statement to the 12th General Assembly expresses young theologians commitment to the Ecumenical movement

The 9th Theological Institute took place at the First Baptist Church Seminary - Garki in Abuja, Nigeria from 7th to 16th November 2023. During the 10 days, 50 young theologians from 23 African countries were inspired and enriched by the theological discourses on the various carefully selected such as Mission and Ecumenism, Leadership, Migration and Human Trafficking, Reconciliation, Creation care, and Eco-diakonia and the preservation of Human Dignity.

In their statement, the young theologians testified that the institute helped them understand how to apply the love of Christ in tangible ways and encouraged them to be agents of transformation who advocate for justice, compassion, and environmental stewardship across the continent.

“As young theologians, we stand committed to carrying forward the invaluable insights gained during the training and pledge to be ambassadors of ecumenical formation.”

The statement appreciated AACC’s move towards beginning a master's program in Ecumenical studies and also urged for increased youth participation in the annual symposium on misleading theologies.
