ACRL-RfP 5th General Assembly strengthens Interfaith Collaborations for Peace and Justice

African Council for Religious Leaders – Religions for Peace (ACRL-RfP) convened its 5th General Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, bringing together over 150 faith leaders, scholars, youth, and women from across the continent. Held at Ole-Serena Hotel, the Assembly ran from 11th to 12th August 2025 on the theme "Shared Sacred Flourishing: Interfaith Leadership for Peace and Justice in Africa.

As a member of the Governing Board, the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) was represented by Rev. Angele Wilson-Dogbe, Director for AACC’s regional office at Lome and Rev. Fr. Dr. John Njoroge, Executive Secretary, Theology and Interfaith Relations.

During the opening session, Rev. Angele Dogbe delivered AACC’s goodwill message applauding ACRL–RfP’s commitment to pursuing peace and justice in Africa. Speaking to the Assembly theme, she emphasized that interfaith leadership is not merely a dialogue of ideas but a partnership of courage and action.

The Assembly concluded with a renewed mandate for ACRL-RfP to harness Africa’s rich spiritual heritage as a potent force for justice and shared prosperity for current and future generations. 

According to Rev. Dr. John Njoroge, the ACRI-RfP’s 5th General Assembly was more than just an institutional gathering but a veritable catalyst for launching new initiatives.

"Participants pledged to strengthen cooperation among religious institutions, community organizations, and public authorities with the objective of building an African future founded on peace, equality, human dignity and sustainability.” He noted.
