A Celebration of Commitment and Impact at the 12th General Assembly

“What we celebrate here today is not merely sixty years of existence, but sixty years of engagement in a united prophetic ministry for the good of our Continent” AACC President to 12th General Assembly.

The Rt. Rev. Arnold Temple, AACC president addressed the 12th General Assembly during the second business session on Monday 20th November 2023.  He began by acknowledging the warm welcome the AACC members in Nigeria accorded the 12th General Assembly and also expressed his delight in the fact that the 60th anniversary of the fellowship meets in Nigeria, a country where the AACC was conceived. Speaking to the 12th General Assembly theme, “The Love of Christ Compels Us,” the president emphasized that God’s love is creative, redemptive, and authentic.

“The Love of Christ Compels Us to work together in fellowship, creative and liberating engagements for the promised abundant life for all.”

“The question, ‘What does the future hold for our continent?’ stares us in the face and we cannot shy away from it. What is the hope of our future generation? It is sad to see our young people so desperate to leave their native shores in search of security and to seek greener pastures- they are determined to go away from their own countries at all costs, even at the cost of their lives. Loss of lives is now so common on the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert,” he said as he emphasized that African Governments and the Fellowship need to promote sustainable living conditions that would help to eradicate the urge among the youths to embark on dangerous voyages seeking greener pastures.

Speaking to the political atmosphere of the content, he noted that “as much as coup d’états are unacceptable and should be condemned by power perpetually by all means, undermining democratic principles, lack of transparency and reduction of space for citizens to express their feelings without threats, eroding trust in our public institutions that are supposed to be independent but are very much polarized, etc should be stemmed.”

He concluded by expressing his desire that the resolutions coming out of the assembly would manifest the Love of God in Africa.
